Breakfasts were excellent. Keralan breakfast served in different forms each day. Very filling and very tasty. Bed was very comfortable for us. A little firm for some maybe. The owner Rajesh is very friendly and helpful. Always on call if needed. For nature lovers our room was ideal. We had the absolute privilege of seeing wild gaur about 50m in front of our room but from the safety of the 2nd floor. Magnificent beasts. They often come as the light fades but one night they came at 17.10 so we could photograph them. Location is ideal for the reserve. Next to the Lake Road entrance so we walked a very short distance and paid our 500rs each daily fee to enter the reserve. We were then free to walk up and down the 3km road to the Lake. We had to promise to stick to the tarmac. You can re-enter as many times as you like in the day. If you want the bus it is a 25 min walk or tuk tuk to the Bamboo Grove bus station. Bus costs 30rs each return I think. Ecotourism office near the homestay sell tickets for walks and give very good advice.

A clean and cozy room with amazing view of the jungle. We were so happy to see a wild boar, bisons and smb like otters just from our balcony. We stayed for 2 nights and the host's mum was very kind to call us when she noticed bisons. Once bisons came just under our balcony so I could watch them very close. The breakfasts were delicious and the host and his family were super nice and friendly. The location is great: just a stone's throw from the gate to the park andcose to all the life but at the same time in the quieter part of the town. You can enter the park for 500 rs if you are a foreigner. There's one self guided walk: Pugmark trail. Pay 100 rs extra for it at the gate. In the park you can observe lots of sambars even at noon time. Besides there are lots of guided activities and boating. The host can help you with them, just ask him

Large clean room with AC and wifi. Fabulous view from the terrace (private or communal depending on which room you have) - overlooking the edge of the National Park - some good bird-watching from the terrace plus great views of a gaur (Indian bison) at dusk (better than in the National Park!) as well as wild boar and mongoose. 5 minutes walk to one of the Nat Park entrances, 15 minutes walk to the other. 20 minutes walk into the town centre. Several nearby restaurants (Bamboo Cafe recommended) and several more on the road into town (Chrissie's Cafe recommended). Helpful staff. Very good value for money.

This place is perfectly situated if you want to build up some excitement for your tour through the national park as you can see buffaloes, mongoose and monkeys from the large balcony. The national park’s gate is a 5min walk down the street. The room was spacious and very nice. The host is a really helpful guy who will provide you with a lot of infos about activities and was always available when I called him. He let me store my bag free of charge for my night in the national park and even offered his facilities when I returned which I found very generous. All in all, I highly recommend!

Huge room and bathroom. Older property - old building and the furniture, but the pictures in Booking are accurate, so it was fine for us, especially for this price. Very kind owner - reached us in whats up in advance, gave local advices. As we were leaving before the breakfast in the morning, he reduced the price for the room. Fantastic view from the balcony. Located on the calm street, but walkable distance to the city center. We enjoyed our stay here!
